Sideways by Citizen Cope

Any Citizen Cope fans out there? I love this guy. He's just so soulful and heartfelt. I'm featuring 'Sideways' this week. He talks about feelings for someone and how the feelings won't go away. How they knock him sideways. I appreciate that sentiment...when you have such strong feelings for someone. Diamonds fade, flowers bloom, but these feelings won't go away.

Here's what I'm imagining...he's saying this to someone he's recently met and he's so completely moved by her. He's never met someone like her. But there are some complications. Some intense kind of whirlwind Capulet/Montague drama.  Despite it all, he's ready to risk everything for this love. Ha!

Or maybe he's just met this really fly girl and keeps thinking about her. Perhaps a bit more simple;)

Citizen Cope a.k.a. Clarence Greenwood. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee and spent time in other southern states, finally ending up in Washington D.C. Maybe that's where he gets the mixture of blues, folk, rock, and soul:
