Dust to Dust by The Civil Wars
So The Civil Wars is this duo that started out in 2008. They
met at a songwriting camp in Nashville, Tennessee and it was music love at
first sight. Apparently they are separating as a group, but at least for these
past few years, they’ve created some beautiful music. They’re releasing
a new album and they have this song, ‘Dust to Dust’… simple backbeat, gorgeous
vocals, and a universal message about how love can truly work, if we can just
be a bit more vulnerable. I was speaking about this with some dear friends of
mine this weekend when one was going through some hard life stuff. We talked
about what it means to share the challenging times with the ones we love. That’s
it, right? The one we can open up to, who we can share our fears with, alongside
our dreams…without feeling judged, that’s the one we can be our best with too.
There’s a few lines that resonate from this song:
"Let me in the walls
You've built around
We can light a match
And burn them down
Let me hold your hand and dance 'round and 'round the flames
In front of us
Dust to dust"
Enjoy...and here's to breaking down the walls with some courage to love:
